A very dear friend of mine returned to his house on August 7th to find it had caught fire earier in the day. Thankfuly the fire occured while everyone was out of the house so no one was hurt. Besides their material posessions the fire also claimed their pets which were no able to get out in time.
I am relating this story because I am an avid crafter and have decided to assist the family by selling my knitted and crocheted items in one of the many upcoming craft shows in my area, giving all proceeds to the family. I was quickly disheartened to find that most stores near me such as Hobby Lobby, Michael’s, and Hancock’s are either unable or unwilling to make donations.
I’m not sure if assistance is possible but I am trying to get the word out to as many fellow knitters as possible as I am asking for any leftover or unwanted yarn that can be donated. My funds are limited though depending on the cost of shipping I may be able to cover the freight charges. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
The first craft show coming up will be on September 15th although there are several more after that. My goal is to have as many knitted and crocheted items together for this first show so the family can begin receiving donations sooner rather than later.
