Yarn choices

Hi everyone,

I’m planning on knitting an afghan and I’m not sure which yarn to choose for my project. The afghan is done with 12" x 12" squares and then sewn together. I would like to block these squares, so I’m thinking acrylic is out of the question. I’d like to use wool, but I’m not sure how to care for the afghan later when cleaning is needed. If I gently washed the blanket wouldn’t I lose my original blocking and then how do I block a piece so large. I could have it dry cleaned, but certain solvents can’t be used and who knows which ones they are. What have other’s experienced with this sort of thing. I’d like to know.

Thanks in advance,
Sandy S.

Cascade 220 Superwash Woolmight be your perfect yarn.
It is a wool and it is washable. And warm. Lots of colors to choose from.

I wouldn’t worry about laundering the blanket. I’d just toss it in the washer on gently cycle, put it in the dryer, and put it back on the sofa!

I’d think about using a fine sweater wash in the washer.
Nothing harsh. Not WOOLITE either.

Cascade 220 Superwash wool ison sale at WEBS now!

I’ve used acrylic and acrylic/wool blends for making afghans with 12 inch squares, and they always turn out very well.
