Has anyone had any experience with ordering Drops yarn? Seems like it’s only available from overseas…Lindehobbi, Rito…laughing hen
Has anyone had experience with this? I may try to find a comparable substitute.
Yarn availability
I’m guessing you’re not in the UK? I’m not keen on ordering yarn from other countries myself, mostly due to postage, though I think it can be worth it for group/large orders.
There’s a very long list of Drops yarns on Yarnsub, too. Drops Nord (one I have used and like), for example, has over 30 subs listed, ranging from 92% to 84% matches.
I am in the USA and yes there is postage but even more unpredictable delivery dates. I have checked yarn subs .com and may go that route. I just love the colors and textures of drops though.
I’m in the US. It’s been a long time but I did order from Wool Warehpouse in the UK. I was amazed at how fast I got the yarn and found the shipping reasonable. It has been a long time and I have no idea what it would cost now or how long it would take. Might be worth checking out.
Woolwarehouse has good information on their site regarding the cost and time for delivery from the UK to international countries. The delivery cost is really reasonable in my opinion, however you need to take into account import charges which may have changed recently and could be high. Drops have added a note on their site regarding possible delays to USA due to increased customs checks and security.
I would check within your own country what the import charge would be, it could be sky high now.
Here’s their delivery info page
Thank you for the input. I’m going to look into your suggestions .
Just a quick update. I ordered from wool warehouse. The shipping was very reasonable and I was just notified one day later that my order has left the UK.
That’s great news. I am in the UK and get free shipping for a decent size order, but if I was shipping internationally I’d think the postage cost really good. I just hope there isn’t a long delay through customes etc for you and you can enjoy your new yarn soon!
Thanks me too! I’m someone who likes to touch and see yarn in person. So I hope it’s as nice as I’m expecting. I’m going to need in Copenhagen in October and I plan to stock up!
