X in pattern confusing me

Hello all,

I just had a quick question about a pattern I’m test knitting for. The pattern has a spot where it says something like:

M1L, k23 (x, 25, x, 26)

And I’m perplexed about those “x” spots. There are spots where they come in before the parentheses and I was assuming the x was just a place holder for the same number before it but if it begins before the parentheses as in:

Place the front x (50, x, 52) sts on hold

does that first x represent 50?

You need to contact the designer. This is a test knit so anyone can guess at what X means but it’s an issue the designer needs to address. Having things like this pointed out is part of the test knitting process.
