Would like to identify a stitch or pattern

Hi, I posted in the knitting forum, not knowing whether it was a knit or crochet question.

If I’m allowed, here is the place to see. If you can help, thank you very much.

It is upside down for crochet and if I am ‘reading it’ correctly, it looks like 2sctog (two single crochet together followed by a chain). I will make a test swatch tonight and see if that is it. If the yarn is ropelike and heavy it is probably worsted weight cotton which can be both absorbant and warm but very heavy.

I tried looking for (crochet shell hat) and then picked a similar picture. This one obviously uses a hook one or more sizes larger than recommended for the yarn which makes the stitches larger and more open, but it does look very similar.
