Worsted socks yarn
Knitpicks (ad at the top of the page) has superwash worsted wool. They also have a wide range of sock yarns with nylon in them which you could double to get worsted weight.
I discovered recently, (and posted about it in the General Forum), that none of my socks w/o the nylon/polymide/polyester have held up well at all. Keep that in mind.
These are DK not worsted, but thought I’d throw them out there since they are still a heavyweight sock yarn -

Most of my sock knitting has been with a washable wool/acrylic mix like Encore Worsted and Patons Decor. Just made a really nice warm 80% wool/20% alpaca heavy worsted pair with new Stitch Nation Alpaca Love but they are not machine washable. I have seen Raggi advertised and want to try it. Patternworks has a wide selection of sock yarns at patternworks.com. For fingering weight socks my favorites are Patons Kroy socks and Lorna’s Laces. Patternworks has their own dk brand in washable wool/alpaca - Bretton. Joanns’ has Patons yarns in their store and on their website.
Of course KnitPicks is great too!
thank you all for your information. i live near patternworks and also get their catalogue and will look into some of their yarns…never thought of doubling up but may do justhank you all again…

Jarbo has a worsted weight, machine washable yarn that has nylon in it. My LYS sells it and I’ve recently made a baby sweater out of it and will be making DH socks with it in the near future. Heres a link to the yarn:http://www.swedishyarn.com/swi_yarn_raggi.htm
A lot of US yarn stores carry it. I tried to put up Paradise Fibers link, but the page wouldn’t load. Anyway, I really like the yarn and they have a ton of colors.
I’ve not been disappointed in Regia yet. But it’s a newer yarn for me so not a lot of washings.
iwent to the "swedish web site4 and found that i have to order the Jarbo yearn as there is none near here…my one lys went out of business in hjanuary and she did carry it here at one time but i did order 4 balls of it to try…sounds wonderful and just what i am looking for.
thank you again
