I tried to make a swatch to check my stitch gauge but my problem is it’s so fuzzy that I’m finding it hard to see much less count the actual stitches.:hair: Sometimes when I pick up a stitch, I sometimes get the finer pieces of the stitch behind it that it feels like I’m ripping it from the stitch. Are there any suggestions for working with this type of yarn? I’m still a newbie knitter…lol
If you’re having trouble seeing your stitches, you may want to move up a needle size. Since it’s a baby blanket, size doesn’t matter much, and with bigger stitches, they’ll be easier to see.
You need to be very careful when using a yarn like this. It’s easy to split the yarn (pick up only part of the stitch), so you have to be very careful that you’re inserting your needle into the whole stitch.
Well 10’s are the biggest that I have and I’m not sure if I can find any bigger. I’m limited in what they carry here. But I’ll try to see if I can find some.
This yarn is tough to work with. I’ve used it for baby blankets and they turned out nice, but the process was hard!
In addition to going up needle sizes you might want to mark your stitches with stitch markers or place markers every 10 stitches so that you can visually see the stitch count and not have to “count” it. I find that very helpful with this yarn. The pointier the needle tips the more problems you’ll have too!
I don’t remember what needle size I used, but I made two baby blankets and both turned out beautifully…sorry I’m not more help…I also made a baby sweater and booties out of this yarn…I don’t think I would buy it again…
A blanket that I made out of the stuff was beautiful until it was dried in the dryer. Now it is all flat and icky feeling. I don’t know if I got a bad couple of skeins or that is just the nature of the yarn.
