I’m so new to this forum posting “thing” that I’m not sure if I’m doing things right or not, so please forgive me if I post this question in more than one place. Also as soon as I can figure out how, I will post an introduction to myself.
I’m looking for help to put entrelac or fairisle designs into a raglan sweater pattern. I am currently working on my 3rd sweater from “The Incredible, Custom-fit Raglan Sweater”, and I would like to work some kind of design into the yoke, other than stripes, and I can’t seem to figure out how to make the designs work out evenly. I get stuck when the design overlaps with the raglan increases and throws my count out of whack. Thanks to anyone who might have ideas. Jerri (sammis_grammi)

I’m not sure how you would do entrelac, but fair isle should work out Ok. Can you show what you are aiming for and where you are running into a problem? A yoke design, which is very similar to raglan and shouldn’t be difficult for you after already making raglans, might be another alternative. Did you see my post on my Bohus style sweater in finished projects? That was my design. I really enjoy working out patterns.
Kime, Thanks for your reply. I’m not sure exactly what I’m trying to do. I just thought if I could put a design similar to what I’m seeing in hats and sweaters this year that remind me of nordic ski sweaters it would be cute. Since I seem to be running short of time til Christmas (as usual) though i may just do stripes, and learn designs later. Thanks again Jerri
You could do an entrelac band, but as far as I know you’d have to pick up stitches to continue with the sweater. I don’t know about raglan decreases/increases with it either. Maybe a band across the middle or bottom and on the sleeves. :think:
Try going to the Drops / Garnstudio pages. They have a lot of stranded colorwork in the yoke of sweaters. That way you can see how it’s done. Basically, do a small fair isle repeat without doing any of the raglan decreases, then in one row do enough decreases all the way around the sweater (not just at the raglan sleeves) to compensate for how many stitches you would have decreased had you not been working those stranded colorwork rounds.
I don’t know about the entrelac since I haven’t really done much with it. But I think there must be some kind of way to increase or decrease in entrelac, maybe work even for several rounds/rows, and then do a decrease in each square for a couple of rounds/rows so that the entrelac squares themselves get smaller. I don’t know, just tossing out ideas.
