"Work sts as set"

Hi everyone!

I’m brand new to the forums, not so new to knitting, but decided that the time had come to finally take my skills a step further than plain scarves.

I bought the book “The Ultimate Knitting Bible” a few days ago, and I’m working on some of the samplers from it, but one of the patterns has the instruction “Work sts as set”, and as far as I can tell, there is zero explanation of what that means (not very impressed, I must say). Any help here? Much obliged!

Usually it means to work the stitches as they appear–knit the knits and purl the purls.

Oh thank you SO MUCH. I kind of figured that’s what it meant, but it’s nice tohave confirmation.
