Work Even

My pattern has me increasing on either side of a marker followed by a purl row. Then the patterns tells me to "Work even until hood measures 8 1/2 inches, ending after working a wrong side row.

My question is, What is ‘Work even’?

It just means to do with no increases or decreases.

I hate to sound stupid but why don’t they tell you to do the stockinette stitch until the piece gets to be a certain length?

:roflhard: Quite right…I think it depends on the designer. And if you are in a pattern going back and forth between a lot of increase/decrease rows, and/or if your project wasn’t stockinette…maybe cables…it would probably be easier to just say “even” in the pattern.
