Woah! affordable, nice yarns...a wool sweater for $20!

I just ordered last night

My mom gave me their catalog in January, but I didn’t get a chance to order, then couldn’t because I gave up shopping for Lent!

My turn to stalk the mailman!!

Julie, that’s a pretty neat thing to give up for Lent!
I’ll have to remember that next year coz this year I gave up
nothing… and felt a little bad about it.

Thanks to Amy we know Wool of the Andes felts nicely. I’ve never felted before, and was wondering, would the Andean Silk (alpaca/silk/merino) felt as well? It’s the silk part that makes me wonder if it’s a dumb idea to want to felt it. Just wondering…

If you do a search on Knitpicks for yarn that can be felted, the Andean Silk comes up.

Has anyone knit with any of the other Knitpicks yarns? Andean Silk? Andean Treasure? Elegance?

I just made myself a wishlist…GAWD I want some Alpaca!!!

I made Miss Dashwood with Andean Treasure:

I am a huge fan of alpaca…it is sooooo soft!!

Wow, Julie, that’s one of the coolest knitted hats I’ve ever seen!

When you wear it, does it fit like a hat or a bonnet (being that it’s called Miss Dashwood)?

I love my kitties, but I don’t think I would use Noro for them  Besides, that, they already have a perfectly good lap on which to rest!

I got some bulky wool from ebay lately that I have dyed…I think it would be great for the kitty bed. After my sweater is finished, maybe that will be the next thing!

ooooh, Julie! I wanna CUDDLE with that hat!

It’s going to take an awful lot of wool to make the kitty pi for those cats! They are really big for Siamese, aren’t they? They look like they’re the size of bobcats.

haha…they are pretty big!!! They are applehead siamese…like siamese cats use to before they bred them to be so tiny, delicate and angular. They are a little overweight though!

It will have to be a big pi…they are ALWAYS together and always laying on each other.

I’m in a rush, so I haven’t gotten the chance to read all of the posts about knitpicks yarn…but I had to jump in with my experiences…I LOVE KNITPICKS and order from them every payday! I am disabled and live on a fixed income…but now I can afford to buy quality yarn…thank you knitpicks!! The afghan I’m working on now is with wool of the andes and it’s working great and is oh so soft.
I’ve got tons (maybe not that much…lol) of yarns in my stash for projects that I’m actually planning on doing for myself.
I’ve used the merino dk weight…great
wool of the andes…worsted…great…felted great, too
alpace cloud for lacey scarf…great
and I’ve used their dye your own yarns, both worsted and sock weight…worked well with koolaid!!
I have many skeins of the natural sock yarn waiting to be dyed now…It summons me everytime i walk into the bedroom to dye it…'rebecca…dye us…dye us…we must be dyed and made into cure socks…our destiny is cute socks…" and it just goes on and on and everybody knows…I HAVE TO FINISH MY AFGHAN for a wedding gift.
but…how do u compete with these yarn summons?!!
lol…all kidding aside…all of the yarn i’ve used is great and…they r supposed to be coming out with 10 new yarns this spring!!
oh yeah…they have a good selection of books and accessories…i just got the magnetic board that i couldn’t find around here to hold my pattern in place and i got an electronic row counter (yes, it sounds like overkill…but i hang it around my neck and it’s VERY EASY to access and use)
I am not affiliated with knitpicks…as it must sound…lol…I just LOVE IT!
U think i should get them to pay me for this commercial?! lol
As a matter of fact, I’ve issued a pattern for my loopy socks for their consideration …wish me luck…if they choose it i believe the payment is something like $59-$400. if anyone is interested go to knitpicks.com and scroll down a bit and it will state 'designer guidelines’
