WIP: Simple Lace Top

No rest for the wicked. From one project right to the next. This one is for my wife’s cousin and dear friend Barbra.
From Creative Knitting Magazine May 2009 page 16.
I will be doing it in filati cervinia Genova color 1640.

A beautiful design! The May 2009 has lots of nice lace projects, not too busy, not too complicated! I like that issue! Thanks for posting the source material!

That’s very pretty! Looking forward to seeing yours!

Yup, I love that pattern too! Can’t wait to see how yours turns out!

sure is pretty, can’t wait to see your finished product

Well, after working so many nice kx, px, patterns it’s been a bit of an adjustment K2, p1, yo, k2tog, p1, k2.
I could find no easy way to tink this when my stitches got off :waah:
So it was :frog: more times than I care to count.
But it looks like I have a handle on it now. :happydance:

Lifeline. Use a lifeline and it’ll be a sanity lifesaver!

Jan, you are a dream! Are you married? lol.
Thank you so much for throwing me a lifeline. This will be very useful in the future.

:aww: Yep, married. Haha! :teehee:

And YES, a lifeline is a very, very useful! I used it with my first sweater which was only a top down roll neck pullover, but it was nice because I was a new knitter. For any type of lace it’s extremely important. Unless you are the 1 in a gazillion who loves frogging and re-knitting your projects. BTW…it can be used for trying on sweaters, too. Just make it long enough so the fabric can stretch and remove the needles and try on!

Ooh, that’s pretty!

Thanks, hopefully mine will be too!

yea, its o simple n weldone…i like the colour n design…thanks

Here are a few pictures. This is the yarn I am using. I thought it would give you a better visual.
The odd strand is the ‘life-line’ Jan suggested. (thanks again Jan).

Working away on this. I have one side finished. Here are some pics. I tried to show the lace with some close-up’s.
This is pre-blocked. That will be the next step to boldly go where I have never been before.
Thanks to Suzeeq for the helpful link.
This article should explain it - www.knitty.com/ISSUEwinter02/FEATdiyknitter.html
The blocking board here is made based on the pattern from the above article.
I used quarter inch sound board (it doesn’t have to be Homosite). It cost $12 for a 4’ X 8’ sheet. (Normally $20 but one edge was damaged so I got a discount).
The ‘Y’ chromosome is still working! :roflhard:

Very Nice! I love the color! :muah: Lifelines are a must for lace patterns.
