WIP Oat Couture Knit Ruana for DIL

Next gift in the works! This is a ruana for Christmas for my almost daughter-in-law. It is Suri Dream HD. Will post the FO hopefully soon. I may like this better in a solid color so this may end up a gift for me!!

Great colors and that yarn looks sooo soft

Ooo, pretty yarn, pretty ruana…what a nice almost MIL you are!

This is not on the subject except that this is the lovely lady I am knitting the ruana for as a Christmas gift! :muah:

This is sort of off topic but wanted you all to see the lovely lady I am knitting the ruana for for Christmas!

Susan in NC the proud almost MIL!!

This is beautiful even though I have no idea what a Ruana is (I guess I haven’t been at this site long enough to learn what everything is) You have a beautiful soon to be dil. My advice as a mil of both a man and a woman, do what my husband did at my son’s wedding. He gave a speech and told everyone “Alicia is NOT our dil, she is our daughter.” My dil just found out she is pregnant so I am knitting up a baby storm!
Make sure you post the finished product. We will be anxious to see it.

A ruana is sort of an open poncho, kind of a cape. Like a rectangle with a split to go over the shoulders for left and right front. The fronts can hang loose or be tossed over the opposite shoulder.

Thanks for the info Sue!

That’s so prrreettty!! I really like the colors you chose for the yarn. May I ask what pattern you are using? I’ve had a Ruana for years and didn’t even know it had a special name LOL

The pattern is Oat Couture. There is a great website (oatcouture.com) although they do not sell the patterns online from the site. You have to find them elsewhere online or from a local store. If I find the receipt for the online store I got this one from I will post it. I really like the “style” of their patterns. Thanks for the kudos!
