great job! I love illusion stuff - watchign the pictures emerge - even though the one scarf I made took me a reeeeeaaaally long time!
wow!:cheering:great job, that is cool!!.
I’m finally done knitting the background section in the middle part of my Dark Mark scarf and am ready to start knitting Chart 3!! I took my Dark Mark scarf to a HP 7 book party last night - here’s a photo of my girl passed out on a bench at about 11:47 pm She’s using her HP CoS scarf as a pillow and had to make sure her Harry bookmark was right next to her :teehee:
awwww isnt she cute!
that looks amazing! I can’t believe how cool that looks! Any chance of you sharing the pattern?
here ya go!
i’m definitely gonna have to make me one of these. :eyebrow:
Here you go Storm Moon Knits Dark Mark Illusion Scarf. She also has a pattern for a Dark Mark bag. And you can find TONS of patterns at the Leaky Lounge!
Okay i printed the charts-but it looks really hard!I’ve never used a chart like this before and my printer doesn’t print in color-will that matter? Thanks for sharing the pattern…do you think i can do it!!!
psquidy - it looks complicated but once you get the hang of it you’ll be okay! You may want to follow the charts online and highlight the green rows to match your paper copy.
Just remember the 1st row of the chart is the right side, so all odd numbered rows are considered right sides and must be knitted across. The even numbered rows are considered wrong sides, and must be purled across unless the box has a dot in it, which means you must knit that stitch. I’m happy to help if you have any questions! I had to frog the scarf 4 times before I got it right :teehee: but once I got the hang of it, it was easy peasy! You can do it!
So, on the odd numbered rows we read from the right and even numbered rows we read from the left?
Yep!! You got it!! I think that was the reason for frog #2 for me :teehee: I didn’t read the chart correctly.
very cool scarf! if i ever get past my fear of charts, i will knit this!
I would never have thought to read the chart the opposite direction! Good thing you asked that knit knut! I have a rather embarrasing thing to admit- I’ve sort of squeezed by all my patterns that i’ve done in the past without really understanding the right side wrong side thing. Every time i think i have it-it’s wrong. Could someone clear that up for me?
Thanks so much for thinking i can do it! It doesn’t sound so bad when you explain it like that. Im gonna DO IT
ok so i am going to try it… i am scared! can some one explain not cutting the yarn when swicthing colors… i am a new knitter and i am not getting it.
so here i go!
so i sat down with it last night and cranked out the first set of background * i did 4 groups instesd of 3 oops* and up to Row 17 of chart one … it is going very well i didnt think i could do it but i am!!! and i am super excited!:woot::woot::yay::knitting:
i couldnt have done it with out reading this and your explanation of how the chart worked! thank you
I have been doing this one too crafty frog. i haave been posting about it in the knit along section under Harry Potter knit aalong.
I can’t wait to see how yours turned out. I am on the middle part right now and it is going a little slower since I decided to learn how to continental knit after 10 years of English knitting. but I’m getting faster everyday!
mayday
