Why has my color change gone all wrong?

Im knitting a blue and red striped scarf, each stripe being 18 rows. I’ve been switching colors with the duplicate stitch joint and I like how its been coming out so far, but this time my color change isnt matching up. On all the other changes it leaves a small stripe of the new color before the big stripe starts on the “wrong” side of the scarf and looks perfect on the “right” side. Well, this time its doing the exact opposite. Its leaving the stripe on the “right” side! What did I do wrong? And how can I fix it?

Here are some pictures because I feel like Im not making any sense.

“Right” side:

“Wrong” side:

Dont mind all the dropped stitches lol. Im actually planning on wearing it with any mistakes that I make along the way. It shows that Im learning.

Your row count must be off. Try knitting one more row of blue before switching to red. Hope that helps!

You may be starting your color change on the wrong/other edge of the scarf than you did last time. If you lay the scarf the public side up, your color changes should start when you are at the left edge or knitting across the scar with the public side facing you.

I figured it out! I was starting in the wrong side! I just had to knit another row and it worked fine. Thanks to both of you!

That’s the nature of purls (those dotted lines are called bicolour purl bumps) I’m afraid… out of curiosity, what is the duplicate stitch join you mentioned?

In the knittinghelp.com videos there is a video that teaches a color join called a duplicate stitch join. I learned it from that video. Actually, I learned most of my knitting from this site. Here’s a link of the page. Just scroll down and it should be there.

This post is quite old but am wondering if anyone can help me with the same issue? My key problem
Is that I don’t have enough yarn to do another Row. Is there a way to not have the line going down the front of the blanket when I switch colour?

Welcome to KH!
Is the problem that you’re getting the line of color change dots on the right side of the blanket instead of the wrong side as the original poster? You could take out the last row if you don’t have enough yarn for an additional row.
Here’s a video for “tinking” so that you can leave the sts on a needle to avoid dropping one (or two):
