Who has altered the booga bag pattern?

As I’m waiting for my KP’s yarn to arrive so I can begin my first ever booga bag ( :happydance: ) I’ve been looking around on here, and other sites for a pattern for a bigger booga bag than the original pattern.

I don’t want it TOO big, but definately bigger than the 4 1/2 X 7 1/2 X 8 1/2 which the original pattern shows the bag to be when finnished.

I did find a blog in which instead of 34 casted stitches, and 34 rows, there were 60 casted, and 40 knit.

(Pattern: I cast on 60 stitches and did 40 rows. I picked up 19 stitches on each of the short sides, and 60 stitches on the cast on side, for a total of 158 stitches around. I knitted 70 rounds on the body of the bag – made it just a bit taller than the “normal” bag. )

The final pattern is saying it’s 15" wide by 9" tall by 4" deep.

I have not made anything beyond a scarf yet. This pattern seems pretty good, and I did buy yarn, but I’m looking for something “in between” because I probably won’t need to the bag to be 15" wide, and the 4" deep seems a little short.

Has anyone altered the booga bag pattern into a good size, that they can remember their pattern and wouldn’t mind posting?

Thanks! I’m really eager to start on this bag…so KP’s, hurry with my order! :roflhard:

I think the 4 inches is front to back depth- not top to bottom depth, if that makes any difference…

Maybe? :?? I might as well just give it a go if there aren’t any other patterns out there which make it bigger. I’m afraid without a set one, I’d mess it up BIG time :wall:

I have yarn for a Booga Bag “on deck”. I also want it bigger, much bigger. My plan is to just double everything.

How soon before you start making yours? I’m curious how it goes. Let me know!

I am going on vacation in two weeks, it may be my “take along” project, haven’t decided for sure. In another post someone was talking about using I-Cord edging on th ebooga bag, I LOVED the picture but haven’t tried to find out how it’s done yet.

The i-cord bind off is a great detail to the top of the bag and makes it a bit sturdier. It is quite easy to do…here are some i-cord Bind off references:

one

two - toward bottom of page

As for changing the pattern it really is quiet easy, but I think the idea of doubling the pattern sounds perfect and easy way to get a bigger bag.

ooh oooh ooh!!
Thanks!!!

No problem!

Just be aware that it takes forever to do it, but it is worth the work and very brainless once you get going!

Sounds like a great, riding in the car for 16 hours project!

WOW! Those are great links. I might just have to practice working those! Key word…practice. :x:
