Could anyone give me some suggestions on where to buy yarn online for a good price, maybe with free shipping? I don’t have a car right now and can’t make it to the stores very easily or quickly. I’d like to also be able to find yarns listed in some patterns that I don’t think stores like Michael’s or AC Moore carry. Any help would be appreciated! :happydance:
You can go to - yarn.com, littleknits.com, elann.com and knitpicks.com for starters. They have free shipping after a certain $ amount. The yarns at the last one, knitpicks, you won’t find in any store, they’re online only.
I’m looking for this type of yarn, but not having any luck with the online stores mentioned. One place only has 3 colors of this type, but not the ones I wanted. I am googling other places to find this yarn. Is this an uncommon yarn? Is there something that’s equivalent that I could use instead that might be easier to find? I’m making baby blocks.

Try finding the manufacturer of the yarn - their site will often list shops that carry it.
Also try www.yarndex.com. You can find other yarns with the same guage that may be easier for you to find.
My last thought - if you’re making baby blocks, size really isn’t a major factor. What will it matter if the pattern makes a 2" block. You can use different yarn and make a 2.5" block. Or whatever, so long as it isn’t too small.
No matter where you are in the world there’s probably an etsy yarn seller near you. If you don’t know already, etsy.com is a website devoted to handmade goods where artisans have their own shops on-line. The products are probably slightly more pricey in comparison but they are beautiful and I always enjoy supporting handmade artisans. There are also a lot of knitters who sell their products there!

I’ve not actually ordered yarn from any of these sellers but they all have reviews from customers you can check out. I keep putting off buying good yarn because I’m still a beginner and want to wait till I’m competent before spending money on good yarn!

I would check out KP Telemark. At a $1.99 a ball and a maximum of $3.99 shipping. I think it would work for your project.
Wow! Everyone was so helpful! I ended up placing an order with kidknits today. I will check the other sites that people posted after that one was mentioned – but they had every color I needed for my project, which was great.

Bea Ellis Knitwear specializes in Norwegian yarns, including the full range of Dale. Nice Scandinavian-style patterns, too. And excellent service, from my experience.
Be wary of discountyarnsale.com. Service is horrid and there is no way to reach them via phone.
WEBS has it. I haven’t bought from them, but I understand they have a good reputation. (I have listened to their podcast and they seem nice enough!
