What's the difference between peruvian wool and merino wool?

Merino wool is from a merino sheep–a particular breed. Peruvian wool? Probably from a ‘regular’ sheep that lives in Peru. There is a noticeable difference between merino and ‘regular’ wool–the merino is much softer.
