I’m making something and it says to use Double knit yarn.
Some suggestions please, what do you like to use?

Depends what you’re making and how much you want to spend really
I like the dk yarns from Rowan a lot. Lovely to knit with. samm
I bought me some Bernat Softee Baby a while ago, it seemed nice to me.
I just bought a ball of Rowan Pure Wool DK in Tea Rose. it is very soft and they had a lot of pretty colors! it was hard to pick just one!
I’ve used Plymouth Encore DK and it worked up quite nicely. I also have some Cleakheaton, but I haven’t used it yet, 'though it does feel nice!
It looks like CotLin from Knitpicks is a DK weight yarn. I’ve been eyeing it, but most (all but 1) of the colors are out of stock right now.
Rowan Tapestry is nice for a selfstriping project.
Elsebeth Lavold Silky Wool is gorgeous and comes in some great colors.
Sirdar makes nice DK as well.
I just finished a cardigan on size 6 needles for my dd. I used Little Knits Peru Luxury DK. At 2.99 a ball, it is a nice silkey wool and I especially liked the way the sts turned out. In stockenette 1/2 the st is straight and the other half slanted. I have never seen this happen on any other yarn.
I could swear this happens on all my knitting, but maybe I’m just tripping. Here’s an article for you"
I was doing this on my DD’s sweater - almost like a herringbone pattern instead of straight stockinette? Turns out I was wrapping the yarn one way on knit and the other on purl. Or maybe I’m just confused! It didn’t look bad, just not straight. I’m finishing out the sweater the same way so it’ll match.
You’re in the UK, so double knit is actually light worsted here. My favorites are
-Knit Picks Wool of the Andes
-Knit Picks Swish Superwash
-Knit Picks Ambrosia
-Malabrigo
-Berroco Pure Merino.
The problem is that knitpicks is only available in US :??.
It’s frustrating…
It IS frustrating. They have nice stuff but I’m in the UK.
Hi
It depends what you want to knit - you don’t have to pay the earth though, to get good quality wool.
I use Jarol and King Cole when knitting for babies and toddlers because it’s so soft and washes well.
Woolworks have a list of stores, many of them with websites - the ones from Yorkshire are (of course) pretty good.

There’s also the adverts in Knitting and Simply Knitting mags.
All the Best

I LOVE Cashsoft DK by Rowan (RYC). It is super yummy with 57% wool, 33% microfiber and 10% cashmere. The Cashcotton DK is also yummy. And it’s not as expensive as you might think.
It is frustrating about Knit Picks. but the others are available in the UK.
And so unfair! Everyone is always saying how good it is :pout:
