Whatcha' Knitting June, 2023

There a quite a lot of tutorials with this joining method, but not for ribbing and now I have used it I am really surprised that it is not put out there more. I’ve done my shoulder seams now and really happy with the result. My kni55jng was with 3.5mm needles and I tried 3.5mm crochet hook which I would say worked fine but I wanted to see what happened with smaller (tighter seam) so tried 3mm and 2.5mm and I kept the 2.5mm seam. It is hard to explain but it is very sturdy which is what I wanted for the shoulder but it is also stretchy and soft.
Amazing!

Just started the first sleeve. When I have the sleeves ready I’m going to try this slip stitch seam on a set in sleeve seam.

Wow! Everyone already has a lot of wonderful things posted!
I just finished a facehugger for my son, who wanted it really badly for some reason. Lol.

I like that but wouldn’t want it on my face! I offered to make a face hugger for my son’s ipap machine. He declined and we had a good laugh.

I thought he wanted it for a mask but I guess he just wanted it to have it.

That’s really cool! Can you link to the pattern please? I’ve got a friend that would love this. She loves all things creepy crawly. I made her these spider mitts https://www.ravelry.com/projects/SheenaStoneKnits/twisted-spider-hand-warmers I added some ribbing to the top and beads for the eyes, but the pattern isn’t that hard. Your son might like them.

Thanks for the link to the mitts, I definitely take a look.

The facehugger pattern I have is a wee bit different looking from this one. The one I have saved, I can’t locate online anymore. But looking at this one, it is basically the same one, it just says facehugger 2 in the title bar. So, I don’t know if corrections were made or something and it was switched out with this one. Some things are a bit off in the pattern I used but I just corrected it the way I thought it should be corrected. Anyway, sorry I’m rambling, here is the pattern…

I’m knitting birds in Christmas jumpers, hoping to make a pattern for each of the birds from the traditional 12 Days of Christmas carol (didn’t realise until today, but apparently more of the gifts in the song, if not all of them, are birds than is obvious. The five gold rings apparently refers to ring-necked birds, such as pheasants, but some of them are more open to interpretation from what I gathered).
I’m making some others, too, like a turkey, but this parrot is a one off and already in his new home:

The cracker on his jumper made of felt and is a visual pun (parrots like crackers!)

There are so many layers (no pun intended) to this sweater and parrot that it’s going to be a fun knit. Can’t wait to see who’s next!

Thank you, @salmonmac! I decided to do the birds and jumpers (and other sorts of one-piece outfits) as separate pieces going forward. I started the partridge tonight. His name in the pattern will be Alan, after Alan Partridge. I’m not a fan, but often can’t resist making references and puns!

If a parrot wanted a disguise, wouldn’t they go for solid colors unlike their own. Kind of like Hollywood celebrities dressing in plain clothes.

Loved the cracker!

True, they probably would lol. Glad you liked it!

I’ve finished the Embrace the Chill. The light from the window is super bright and it needs blocking, but it’s done.

Green is my favorite and this is a stunning shade of green. The pattern, color, and your knitting is beautiful.

Thanks. Just blocking it now. The green is Malabrigo in Solis.

I’m going to do this next https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/maivember Just need to work out which colours I’m going to use.
