What the heck does this mean?

Hey all:
I am attempting the raglan sweater pattern onthis site, but can someone please please explain to me howthe heck you get ‘ridges’ on a garter stitch? It says to work even in garter stitch until there are 2 purl ridges, then knit the next row, and then do a buttonhole. Hey, here’s an idea!! Can someone (or someones) look at the pattern and tell me what they mean and how I am supposed to get a full back of a sweater (ok, it’s preemie sized, but come on! they are not fashion dolls!!lol) ?!?

Thanks again for all your help

Hi! Here’s a picture… I hope it helps.

I outlined the knits and purls in blue and green, and put a blue box around a “ridge” . I hope it’s clear!!! Sorry it’s so small… I ridge is basically 2 rows of garter.

Ok, I understand that, but how is it supposed to be a full back of a sweater if I am just knitting 4 rows before I do shoulder shaping?

Which pattern is it?

well i started to post this and then my clients decided to start being demanding. I THINK that it is this pattern that she is talking about. At least it is what i got from her original post. Did i guess the right one?

Continue row 1 and 2 for 20 rows.
Knit next 6 rows. Bind off, leaving 12" of yarn to sew seam for sleeve.
Repeat for 2nd sleeve.[/color]

OKAY!!! This is a top-down raglan!

Those 4 rows are just the collar. Continue with the pattern as written, after the shoulder shaping you’ll get into knitting the body. Just remember you’re starting at the neck edge and knitting down, and it’ll start to make sense.
