What the foot

Any foot docs out there? This is the strangest thing I have ever experienced. Since Saturday, I have been having this off and on pain in my right foot, specifically in the heel area - inside heel area.
When I bend over if both feet are flat on the floor I feel this sharp pain in the side of my foot- the inside between the bottom of my foot and my ankle area. If I am bent over and I go up on my toes of this right food, the pain is not there.
It is so weird. I can not figure it out. I am thinking it may have something to do with driving for 12 hours last Thursday from Ohio to NC, :thud: tho, I have driven from Maine to NC several times, longer hours and have never had my feet hurt.
Just wondering if anyone has ever experienced anything like this. It amazes me that something in my foot is connected to the action of me bending over. A tendon maybe. - I am more of a math person and did not listen very well in anatomy 101. I have been hoping whatever it is - it goes away- don’t really want to have to go to the doc right now. :passedout:

First off - I am NOT an MD…it sounds like you have achilles tendonitis. The gastroc muscles attaches to your heel via the achilles tendon and then is goes up the back of your leg, crosses the knee joint and attaches to the back of the thigh bone - stretching that muscle if the tendon is inflammed could cause pain as could standing in flat shoes. You might try walking in something with a slight heel (like a clog or other wide base/cushion heel, not stillettos) for a few days, ice the back of your leg/ankle and see if it doesn’t feel better.
Plantar fascitis would be my other thought, but that shouldn’t bother you when you stretch…it’s more pinpoint pain under the foot …

Either way I hope you feel better soon - no fun to have aching feet.

Thank you. I will try your suggestions. I was wondering if it had to do with a tendon. I have went from heels and clogs to only wearing my old comfy clark sandals for the past couple of months. May be they are too broken in comfy and it is time for some new ones.

Sure sounds like tendonitis to me. Did you try warm water/foot bath?? Might help. Also massage afterward would maybe help (if nothing else, it would feel wonderful! LOL) Also, my husband and son swear by cruise control for your next long trip in the car. Good Luck, nothing worse than a painful foot.

Yesterday, a friend of mine brought me some epsom salts to soak it in. I am going to try it today. I tried icing it and have changed shoes this week. It is somewhat better-less painful. It did not help that I knicked the back of the same heel while shaving this week. At least it’s not my knitting foot - ha ha
