What should I make with this vintage wool?

I pulled out this vintage wool pompadour yarn to take a photo, because I was considering selling it on eBay. But now that I look at it, I think I should use it instead.

It’s 100% wool, with nylon pompadour accents. It came in a vintage crochet kit for a simple top. I have 7 ounces of the yarn, and it is sportweight.

It’s not really soft enough for next-to-the-skin wear, but I think it would work well as a baby cardigan or something like that. It’s just hard to choose a pattern. Plus, I’m not too sure about wool for a baby. I doubt that it’s washable.

I don’t really want a shawl this color, and I don’t have enough of the yarn to make a top for me, since I’m a plus-sized girl.

Any ideas?

To me it says “short lacy vest”! It would look great over a solid colored top and could be dressed up or down!

I like that idea, Denise. (I like yours too, Nadja, but I’m already making a shrug.)

I don’t have ANY vests in my wardrobe right now. Hmmm :thinking:
I think it’s time to do some “pattern detective” work.
