Try “Sensational Knitted Socks” by Charlene Schurch - it has patterns that work well with variegated yarns. Personally, I like a baby cable rib or a ripple stitch.
Actually, that’s the book I referred to in my post.
The yarn is not variegated. It’s self-striping. I’m not sure how a cable pattern will show up with it. I hate to do all of that work and the cables get lost.
Call me one of the rare women without a lick of fashion sense. (I fully expect to be on “What Not To Wear” one day. :teehee: )
I have my book tucked away somewhere, so I don’t know what heel it uses. If it’s a short row (the afterthought or whichever), that’s probably so it doesn’t interrupt the striping pattern. You could use a heel flap if you don’t care, though. I used a heel flap on my first two pairs of self-striping and it didn’t bother me.
It’s the forethought heel. But now I understand why you would use that heel. I guess it allows the heel to stand out because you’re using a solid color in that area?
Hmmm…I should probably just go for it. After all, this is all about learning new skills along with creating something fun to wear.
Is your yarn self striping or self patterning? Self striping yarn has longer bits of color. Your’s looks like it would knit up into the ‘faux Fair Isle’ if you know what I mean. I’d say the simpler, the better.
Ingrid, I think it’s self-striping. At least that’s what I remember from the description online. I bought four skeins of this “type” of yarn in varying colors.
