Hello! I had a lovely hat given to me and am so intrigued by the stitch on the middle of the hat (I’ve uploaded a photo). It looks woven but I am pretty sure it is knitting and is a certain stitch I have never seen before. Does anyone know of this stitch (the one that looks diagonally worked not garter stitch!). Many thanks for your help.
Closest looking one I’ve found so far is the woven cable stitch, though I might be wrong. This stitch is supposed to work up pretty dense/tight; how does the fabric of that part of the hat feel?

Thank you for looking but I don’t think it’s this stitch. Each weave is just 1 thread i.e. one stitch not a cable woven back and front with 3 stitches. I would love to know what this stitch is!

Thank you so much, this is almost like the stitch! BUT, the weave looking like a single strand of wool not 2 strands for the weave. I’m getting close to the stitch and will post here if I find it!! Thank you
Could it be linen stitch?
Or diagonal half linen stitch?

Thank you for your help if tracking this stitch. I’ve had a little more of a hunt and I think the middle bit of the beanie is created using a pin loom and woven. I’ve looked at what the textile surface creates and I think it is a pin loom. I will put a link to see if others agree!! The Whimsical Woolies on Instagram has lovely hats that have the same texture and are lovely! Will have to try this. Thank you for all of your ideas.

GG look how lovely it is in 2 colours and it’s so simple to work too. Makes extra thickness fabric for cold weather clothes and doesn’t curl. It’s so nice.

Ah, it’s good you found out what it is. I quite fancy doing some weaving but I have so many things on my to do list, will I ever get around to it??
I hope you’ll post a pic if you work this up, even samples, it would be great to see. It’s very interesting too that the crafts gave been combined.

I think you’re right. It sure LOOKS like it was woven.
