what kind of material does it …require??? like, wool or something??? or doggy hair??? iknow my dog sheds a lot. andhow do you do it??? do you need any special equipment, is it expensive or something you could make yourself, or use your own hands??? IM DYING TO KNOW IM CURIOUS!!! :wall:
This is where I got my roving. It’s not necessarily wool, there are many different fibers, but I started with wool and a drop spindle.
so…is roving a material…or an action???
Roving is basically fiber ready to spin
For wool yarn the chain pretty much goes like this…
Sheep---->you shear the sheep and get fleece----->wash and card fleece---->you get roving-----> spin and maybe dye roving----> and you get yarn!
I think I said that all right… it’s midnight and I’ve been awake for far too long! :passedout:
Roving is a kind of fiber preparation, has nothing to do with the fiber itself. It’s one of the preps where the fiber is ready to spin.
There is also batts, clouds & slivers and of course, you can always spin from the lock (clean or in the grease)
