Hi! I must be missing something, but I am starting a decrease row on a project, and the instructions say “knit until last stitch, then turn.” Then the next line says “Purl until last stitch, then turn.” How is this different than just knitting the row, then purling the row? And where is the decrease? Thanks!
If that is all it says to do, there is no decrease in either row. Perhaps there is a mistake in the pattern?
As for turning, that just means to turn the work so that you are ready to start knitting back in the other direction again.
I think it means to knit until there is still one stitch remaining on the left needle, then turn even though not all stitches have been worked, purl until there is one stitch remaining, turn, etc. It sounds like some kind of short row shaping to me.
Yes, it’s typical in short row patterns to turn before you complete the end of the row, knitting on less sts than a full row. That’s why it’s `short row’ knitting.
