I am new to the forum but won’t post in the “introduce myself” thread until my typo in my user name is fixed… long story…
Anyway, I have been knitting for years and have somehow never come across the term “steek” until today. What is a steek and what does it do? I ahve seen some pictures of one in progress, but am still fuzzy on the objective…

A steek is taking a scissors and cutting your knitting. It’s done when you’ve knit in the round and need to create and opening for the front of a cardigan, the sleeves or neck. There are special techniques that are done to help keep it from unraveling.
