What exactly does this mean?

With 2.75 mm needles cast on 64 sts and work 1" in knit 1 purl 1 rib. Continue even in stocking st until piece measures 7".

Thank you.

Cast on 64 stitches

Knit 1, purl 1 across all rows for 1 inch VERTICALLY (measure from cast on edge)

Then, knit the outside rows and purl the inside rows (for stockinette stitch) for 6 more inches (vertically) until the entire thing measures 7 inches total from the cast on edge.

Cast on 64 stitches. Got this part?

K1, P1, K1 P1, etc. to end of first row. Turn.
K!, P1, K1, P1, etc. to end of second row. Turn.

Continue in this way until your work measures 1".

Then, start doing stockinette stitch which means to knit one entire ROW, then purl the next row. You will do this until your entire work from the beginning measures 7".

So basically I do the rib (knit, purl) for 1’, and then go to the stoc st (knit 1 row, purl 1 row) for 6’. Ok…thanks everyone! I just was mixed up on “1” knit 1 purl 1 rib," but I got it. :XX:

You got it!

Yay…thanks for being so supportive, right now I’m almost finished with the 7’ (I’m like on inch 6)…knits

Thank you for being so supportive! I’m on 6"/7". Can’t wait (I’m trying to make socks).
