to me, po means pass over. I normally see it with something like: PSSO which means pass slipped stitch over… that’s a decrease.
OH! It wasn’t making sense to me at first, I think because my brain is gone due to need of food and ibuprofen or something… the stuff in the parenthesis are for different sizes. 90(100-106-114) sts means four different sizes. This is saying P zero, not P oh. This is now entirely different. P for purl. The first two sizes and the largest, you don’t purl but you purl one for the next to largest. Then, you knit one for the smallest, don’t knit any for the next up, two for the next and one for the largest. So, which size did you start or are you going to do?
That’s really a zero 0, not an O, so it means for that size you skip over the instruction and go on to the next one. So if you’re making the smallers sizes don’t do a purl, skip it and start with k1 instead.

The size I will be doing is casting on 100sts.
Oaky, that’s the 2nd size so you start row 2 with the P4, work p4, k2 across and end with p 4.
This is why computers should have standard fonts that put a / through zeros lol.
