What does "loop" mean?

I’m working a cute baby blanket, which has a main part and then a scalloped edge. I’m ready to do the scalloped edge, but I have no idea what “loop” means in the directions here:

Row 3: K1; *work 5 sts in next st; turn; P5, slip next st,
turn; K2tog; [Loop; K1, pass first stitch on needle over next
st] three times; Loop; K2tog, pass first stitch on needle
over next st; bind off 3 sts; repeat from * to end.

thanks for your help!

Check at the beginning of the pattern and see if there are specific directions for “loop”. The definition might also be at the end of the pattern or in a glossary.
Can you tell us the pattern name or give a link to the pattern, Please?

there was no information anywhere in the pattern as to what “loop” might mean. I tried a couple of things in a test swatch and all looked horrible and nothing like I wanted. I decided to put a crochet scallop edge on instead, which looks very pretty!

Is this the pattern? http://www.redheart.com/files/patterns/pdf/LW2971_corr.pdf

Down at the bottom of column one is this:
SPECIAL ABBREVIATION
Loop = [Move st on right needle back to left needle, K1]
two times.

I like your idea of the crocheted scallop, too. Love to see a photo if you’d like to post one.

That’s a beautiful blanket. How did you find it?

yes, that is the pattern. I guess I just missed that info in the special abbreviations. Sorry I can’t upload a picture, I can’t figure out how to shrink my photo enough with the limited software on my laptop - but it looks great!

I use this site. Maybe it will work for you.
