so i’m knitting from a sock pattern that I used a few months ago and now I forget how to KO or PO (does that mean knit over, purl over? how do you do that?)…hope someone can help!
are you sure it an o and not a 0 (zero) if it has different sizes (like one fore kids and one for adults) then it maybe 0. I don’t think I have ever seen po or ko.
Can you post part of the pattern or post the link?
part of the pattern reads: With new needle, K1 (3) sts, (P1, K2) 7 (4) times, P0 (1), K0 (4). (22 (20) sts on needle).
The brackets are for the womens socks, so P0 (1), K0 (4) must mean dont purl or knit for the mens sock, but purl one, knit four for the womens sock.
Thanks so much!
That’s right you just skip that instruction if the 0 is in the size you’re making, and go on to the next set of sts.
I had the same problem with a sock book by Wendy Johnson, from what I have understood from looking around it should mean “knit on” and “purl on” and as your problem it mentioning nothing about this in her book, under abbreviations or any other place, in my case it was a setup for the Lace pattern, and I am still not sure what the purpose for saying KO (2)
If you google KO and PO (knitting abb) you’ll be amazed at all the different answers. Doesn’t sound as if anyone has a clue.
This was a top Wiki answer - KO in knitting means “Knit Over” or, in other words, pass one knit stitch over the next.
Sounds like casting off to me.
