What does (front edge) mean in pattern

I’ve been knitting for awhile but only very simple patterns. I am now attempting a baby bonnet pattern I found in my grandmothers stack of patterns, this one is dated 1943.

The bonnet is worked in garter stitch with a cable. The pattern is 8 rows, for row two it states K1 (front edge), p20, k2 etc… This is the only row that states (front edge) and I am not sure what it means. Can anyone shed any light?

The front edge will be the edge that’s on the front of the bonnet when worn. The one k st on a mostly purl row will likely end up being garter stitch as the edge/selvedge st.
