What do you think about my yarn? Artisan? Good enough?

Do you think it’s good enough for production. I would not expect earned income from it, but supplemental income. Is it not good enough? This yarn is 2 ply and about 8 WPI. It was wet finished and dried in front of a high velocity fan.

So I have a question. The only place I have tried selling my hand-spun yarn is eBay. But some sources have told me they never shop on eBay for hand-spun yarn supplies. That gives me two options, Etsy or Riverly?

The yarn looks lovely and even. How does it feel? This seems like an aran weight. Is that what you would call it?

It feels soft in my hands. It’s about 26 yards. 50 grams. 2400cm.

I would call it worsted weight, #4 yarn.

According to charts it’s between #5 and #4 yarn. Between bulky and Aran/worsted.

It cost me about $2.78 in matts, and I thinking of $0.20 per yard. This makes it $9.00 when counting seller fees on eBay. So $9.00 + calculated shipping? Is that too much for that yarn?

I’m impressed by anyone who can spin. What an amazing skill to have.
I don’t buy hand spun yarn and can’t help with any of your questions, but wanted to wish you well with your project. It looks nice.

Have you looked at what other handspuns are selling for on Etsy or Ravelry? That may give you a better idea of the most reasonable selling price. At yarn festivals that kind of handspun would see for much more, maybe $20-30.

The charts I’m seeing vary wildly! Two indicate that worsted would be 100-130 yards in 50 grams, and 50-65 yards in 50 grams for super bulky. 8 wpi is also more in the super bulky category, according to The Woolery, but is Aran according to the chart on Ravelry, and worsted on yet a 3rd chart.

'Tis a puzzlement!

It looks lovely but can your yardage be correct?

Most plied super bulky is in the region of 33 yards per 50 grams. It doesn’t look that heavy in the picture.

Do you have any local craft fairs?

I do not have local fair. There is flea market, but it would cost way too much.

I put ruler to it, I get 8WPI. But, I measure the yarn while stretching it out and get 30 yards.
