Do you think it’s good enough for production. I would not expect earned income from it, but supplemental income. Is it not good enough? This yarn is 2 ply and about 8 WPI. It was wet finished and dried in front of a high velocity fan.
So I have a question. The only place I have tried selling my hand-spun yarn is eBay. But some sources have told me they never shop on eBay for hand-spun yarn supplies. That gives me two options, Etsy or Riverly?
It cost me about $2.78 in matts, and I thinking of $0.20 per yard. This makes it $9.00 when counting seller fees on eBay. So $9.00 + calculated shipping? Is that too much for that yarn?
I’m impressed by anyone who can spin. What an amazing skill to have.
I don’t buy hand spun yarn and can’t help with any of your questions, but wanted to wish you well with your project. It looks nice.
Have you looked at what other handspuns are selling for on Etsy or Ravelry? That may give you a better idea of the most reasonable selling price. At yarn festivals that kind of handspun would see for much more, maybe $20-30.
The charts I’m seeing vary wildly! Two indicate that worsted would be 100-130 yards in 50 grams, and 50-65 yards in 50 grams for super bulky. 8 wpi is also more in the super bulky category, according to The Woolery, but is Aran according to the chart on Ravelry, and worsted on yet a 3rd chart.
