What Do You Do With Leftover Yarn from your poject

I have left over skeins of yarn, from all of the afghanis t I knitted for the family members. I decided to knit mittens with the yarn and give them to the school behind our house. My three went to thatc school when we moved here.

I try to knit hats for donation whenever I have leftover yarn. It’s usually about the right amount for a small project like a hat or sometimes mittens. Combinations of some of the leftovers are fun to work too.

Making things to donate is so good of you both.

I have donated a few baby clothes I knitted to the local place which helps families with new babies and toddlers where we donated some of our favorite toys.
I also donated a few finished sweaters I made for myselr which i liked but never wore, maybe someone will wear them.

Mostly I don’t have much left over yarn. One of my projects i used the left overs to make a second sweater. I play yarn chicken quite often!

I made premie/ newborn hats and took them to our hospital in our city. The ladies at the front desk told me, “ We have a person who makes hats for the babies.” Then they turned to each other and continued their conversation that I had interrupted with my rejected donation.

How rude. I’m sure there’s a community center, church or social services organization that would be thrilled with your donation. Kind and generous of you to make these hats.

I actually donated them to my church. They were grateful.

Gosh, how deflating to have your efforts rejected like that!
