What is the name of the stopper type thing that you put at the end of a knitting needle so the stitches don’t come off? Not a holder, but a stopper type thing. I finish a row and put my knitting down buy i’m afraid the dog or daughter will knock it over and I will have to start over… is there a name for these things? I’m placing an order. Thx!
Point protectors.
Thank you!!!:cheering:
Just so you know…point protectors don’t always stay on well. I’ve yet to find any that I trust completely. This is one reason I like long cables on my circs so I can move the knitting to the center of the cable.
I like to use metal binder clips, because they come in various sizes for the different needle sizes, that I place on each end of the needle. I ALWAYS try to use something I have at home before buying something I don’t REALLY have to have.
I’m the same Jan, I love to use Cable needles, in fact my straight needles are just sitting there.
I can just push the work back and not worry about it falling off. They’re especially great for when I knit on the bus or train. Since I can’t knit all the way to the end of the row (or round whichever the project is), I just push it back.
thanks for the advice everyone!
Do you mean you use your cable needles instead of regular knitting needles?
I think she means the cable that joins the circular needles.
I’ve also used rubber O Rings from my husbands tool box before and rubber bands looped around the needles a few times to stop the stitches from making a bid for freedom the second your back is turned!
Oops, sorry I guess I didn’t explain myself.
Yes, I LOVE LOVE LOVE circulars!
Ever since I discovered Circulars, my straight needles are just there “collecting dust”
Thanks, I get it now. I was seeing you knitting on cable needles and wondering if you used the bent ones or straight ones. :roflhard: I use circs all the time too.
Well, if your straights are really just gathering dust, we have a solution for that, too. Not too long ago, Ingrid was looking for needles for a teaching project that encourages new knitters. If you’d like to donate those needles to a good cause, you might send her a message.

:teehee: Yes, sorry. I meant the cable on my circular needles. Hate straights and haven’t used them in years! I’ve already donated all but a couple pair I keep just in case I need to teach someone. Not giving away my circs! Lol
I use elastic bands, if I can’t find my stitch holder. My knitting kit has ends that twists on if I take the needles off.
