Weird CO directions / Magic Loop

Hi

These are directions from a pair of slippers my mom wants to make using the ML method. I understand what the CO directions are saying, but I don’t get how to do it… and then what happens after the CO and it’s time to knit??? I dont’ use the ML method (and I dont’ think my mom has either) so maybe that’s the problems.

Anyway:

Using size 5 Magic loop needle and holding both needles together….cast on 24 sts alternating one st on one needle then one st on the other, (12 sts on each needle).
Toe: With color A (toe color)
Rnd 1.…knit

Or maybe you have a better suggestion for the CO?

Thanks a bunch!

When working toe-up (which is what it looks like you’re doing) I always substitute Judy Becker’s Magic Cast-On. It is described in this Knitty article, and then Cat Bordhi demonstrates on YouTube. It is easy and almost fun!

I use the Turkish Cast On for toe ups and I also use two circs which you could do instead of ML.

Thank you ladies!
