My friend is getting married and I want to make a wrap or stole for her wedding dress… I have a fingering weight yarn, I just need an idea for the pattern. I love lace patterns, but am not terribly good at them. Does anyone have an open, graceful lace pattern that is “blonde proof”?
This one is stunning: http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEspring05/PATTido.html
Ilove that one! I actually broke down and bought one last year that looks almost identical, since I am sure that is out of my skill level at least for now. It is a great item and I am sure your friend would treasure it and think of you every time she wore it!
Maybe a feather and fan? I’ve started a scarf using this stitch, and the pattern itself is pretty basic. Four row repeats, two rows are knit, one purl and one where you might need to think.
I’m making a modification of this scarf http://www.knitpicks.com/Projects/Projects_Display_Yarn.aspx?itemid=50478222&yarnid=5420127
This pattern might work for you http://www.knitpicks.com/Projects/Projects_Display_Yarn.aspx?itemid=50478221&yarnid=5420107
The toughest part for me was choosing the right needle. I tried one of the new knitpicks options, but being as I am new to lace, I ended up (after umpteen cast-ons and dropped stitches) going back to a pair of bamboo.
Yeah I was going ot mentiont the Wedding Ring Shawl by Shirley Paden in Fall 06 Vogue too!
