I am still new to knitting and I have decided to pick my needles back up and try again. My question is what is the best way to weave in ends at the end of a row when working the garter stitch?
Thanks in advance for any and all help.
Hi,
You can weave it through the “bumps”. Just go down into 1 bump, pull the yarn through. Go down into the next one.
You can just follow the pattern of that row.

Is this on open-edged item (scarf, afghan)…or the edge of garment item to be seamed? If seaming will come into play you can weave tails into the seam.

well, I was wanting to make a baby blanket for our new baby due in Oct. using my own pattern but I knit too slow and by the time I would be done with the blanket the baby would probably be in high school, lol
I have always admired those people that can knit fast without looking .I just don’t see how they do it !
Lots of practice…
Me too. I was at a SNB at my LYS the other day and two of the women were carrying on a conversation looking at each other. Not once did they look down at their knitting. Whereas I seem to keep both eyes on my knitting and still make mistakes.
When I commented on it they said they’d been knitting for so long they don’t need to look. They say they sometimes take their knitting to movie theatres and can knit in the dark. Very talented. I aspire to be like those of you who can knit without looking.
this one cracks me up, as i’m more in the camp of not seeing the faces of the actors while i’m furiously concentrating on my knitting, only to look up a few episodes later and go 'oh, so THAT’S what they look like!"
