I made up my own shrug pattern. I cast on enough stitches to go around my wrist and did ribbing for 2 inches or so, then knit in the round until it reach just to my underarm, I then quit knitting in the round and went back and forth until it was long enough to go across my back and then rejoined in a circle and knit until it was long enough to reach my other wrist. I increased some from the wrist to make it wide enough for my arms. It was all just “on the fly knitting” with no real pattern and I bet the left sleeve is diffferent from the right in some ways, but I used a fluffy yarn so it didn’t show much. You could do this same sort of thing with just about any yarn you want, making it smaller or tighter or running a cable across the back or whatever. Now that I think about it I think that mine was actually “Yo, k2tog” all the way across. Find a stitch that looks interesting and just build some sleeves

Unfortunately I’m not much of an ‘on the fly’ knitter. I’ve only recently become good enough to consider anything more than a small project… so impromptu knitting may be something I should hold off on. (I also like to know how something’s going to turn out beforehand )
