Thank you everyone
I was pleased (and surprised!) at how it came out - figured it would be one of those “great ideas” but that I would be shopping at the mall the day before the shower :roflhard:
All your kind posts encourage me!

OMG–that’s totally freakin’ adorable. Great job.
Surely I didn’t read that correctly. This project is your very first FO?!?!
Wowza, you rock.
:woot:I agree…I feel SOOOOOOOOO inadequate! I can’t believe it’s a first FO!

BTW, where can I get the pattern for those cute baby items you made???
Yes - it was my first project but it was not “planned” ! …I decided I wanted to TRY to make something for the baby shower and bought 3 skeins of yarn, thinking a basic baby blanket…but then decided to try to make a sweater to see if I could do it. When it was finished I was so pleased with it I decided to try a hat to go with it. Of course, what’s a hat & sweater w/o booties? I still had yarn left and fell across the pattern for the Woobie while surfing the net and just couldn’t resist!
I don’t think I would ever have had the courage to try this if I planned it all at once (especially with having to tweak the patterns, etc)…but it just sort of grew off the needles :knitting:as I went and I am so very pleased with how it all turned out :cheering:
These were the patterns (although I ended up knitting all but the booties in 2 strands of the LionBrand Microspun):
Sweater: http://www.minidata.co.nz/major/freepatt/patt01.htm
The hat was based loosely off of this http://www.knitwits-heaven.com/soft_and_thick_baby_hat.htm but the “brim” pattern was adjusted to match the sweater
Booties: http://tangleknits.blogspot.com/ (scroll down about 1/2 way). Again, the pattern stitch at the top of the booties was changed to match the sweater
Woobie: http://cache.lionbrand.com/patterns/50722.html?noImages=0 (again, the pattern was adjusted from all garter to some garter edging with the rest in stockinette so that it matched the sweater)
Thank you all for your kind compliments
The support and enthusiasm on this site is just amazing!!
Lovely. What a wonderful gift–I’m sure the entire set will be cherished.
That’s a very special baby gift indeed! I love the colour, and the woobie is adorable! You did a great job on all the pieces to the set. Lucky family who will receive it! samm
thanks everyone
WOW! Very nice work, especially for your first time! Very lucky little baby!
I hope I can do 1/2 as good on my first baby sweater/hat.
LOVE the little blanky.
Sue
Wow - awesome first FOs. That microspun will be so nice for the baby - it’s so soft and smooth.
I love your interpretation of the ‘woobie’. Did you know that there is a knit-a-long at this thread for the Bunny Buddy? I have 3 grandchildren, and both of my daughters are pregnant now! So I hardly know what to knit first.
:thud: OMG!
Your first FO? :notworthy:
It’s BEAUTIFUL!! ![]()
WOW! I see lots and lots and lots of xxxin your future! I’ll check out that KAL - thanks. Chris
