V-neck cardigan help

Hello there,

After my not-so-successful first cardigan, I’m trying again and so far all is well. I’ve knitted all the pieces and have just sewn the shoulder seams together. Now I’m not sure what to do with the button bands and neck band. Do I pick up and knit it all in one long piece from the bottom of the cardigan, all the way round the neck and back down, doing the button holes as I go? That’s what it sounds like in my instructions but I’m not sure my needles are long enough for that!

Any advice much appreciated.

Sounds like it. That’s how I usually do it. A circular needle would work best for that, because of the length and the curves.

Even if it’s a tiny baby sweater you’d benefit from using circs as the pliability of the cable allows for the bends, curves as katknit mentioned. No need to worry about sts falling off, fitting on ndl, etc. The front bands/neck work up quickly once you’ve picked up the appropriate number of sts being they’re only worked over a small number of rows.
