Using Aran weight yarn instead of bulky

I want to try to make the “Another Slouchy Hat” pattern with some yarn that I already have which is a lighter weight yarn and I’m wondering if this can be done without modifying the pattern? I also am wondering how much more yarn it will take? I guess you can tell by my questions that I am a not an experienced knitter.:mrgreen:

Another Slouchy Hat

Is that the pattern? It calls for super bulky yarn @ 2.5 sts/in. You might try using two strands of your yarn together. I think it would be easier to just find a different pattern if you want to use one strand of yarn.

That is the pattern. Thanks for your help - 'guess I’ll try to find another pattern.

If a pattern comes in multiple sizes you can just make a different size and sometimes have it work, but this one doesn’t. There are a lot of slouchy hats so it might be easier to find one that is done with aran/worsted weight yarn.
