It was sensible to raise the issue of fumes. One must remember all these needles will have been made from various substances and the tops or heads may be another composition. I actually bought a proper ventilation mask for working with hebel blocks (cement). They’re probably not good enough to work with fumes (those are pretty costly) however wearing a mask of some sort and ensuring you are not in a closed area is important. Most folks would be fine but some are highly sensitive to such smells:
