i seem to be losing stitches i am a competent knitter but really struggling with this
Hi and welcome to Knitting Help!
it looks like you should start and end the row with 114sts. There are 8 k2togs which are balanced by the 4 double yarn overs, the wl. fwds. For the wool forward you should end each with 2 loops over the needle. In the next row there may be directions to put a knit and a purl or some such combination of sts into the double yarn overs.
Can you give us a link to the pattern or a pattern name? Check the next row or quote it here if it’s still a problem.
Here’s a video for the double yarn over.
trying it now, never had a knitting pattern that didn’t make sense
many thanks for the advice now done a number of rows. was ready to give up.
