Turkish cast-on can bite me

urgh! i have now knit, and re-knit, the same 20 or so stitches a dozen times. i cannot get the hang of this turkish cast-on thing. isn’t there any other way to make toe-up socks?

There’s a Figure 8 CO, which is similar, but other people say it’s easy. Read these articles for other ideas -

I use the figure 8 cast on and admittedly it took me a few goes before I got it to work. However, you will get the hang of it after a try or 3 and then it will come in very handy.

This is where I learned but I Silver’s Sock Tutorial uses it as well.

Hope this helps!

Susan

thank you so, so much for that link. i think you just saved my sanity.

I do a crochet a chain stitch and pick up stitches from the back, purl a row, knit a row, purl a row. Then I unzip the chain and pick up the stitches and bingo you’re in business.

bellium- you made me laugh out loud. hope you got it figured out. (still giggling.)
