For the smallest size (probably the XS), (knit 6, kfb) and repeat this sequence around, k6,kfb,k6,kfb,k6,kfb and so on.

It’s the -,-,- that has me puzzled.
It looks like the full range of sizes is: XS (S,M,L,XL,2XL,3XL,4XL,5XL)
The dashes are for the other sizes, the M,L,2XL,3XL,4XL,5XL which aren’t explained in the circled row. Thos sizes are explained in the following lines in the directions. You can skip those lines as size S is covered in the circled row.
