[b]I’m doing a basketweave blanket for a rescue dog since my Kyro decided to wreck my last attempt … ok here is the pattern:
It reads: this pattern works with any multiples of 10. I cat 70 stitches and the blanket is 29" square
Work 10 rows knit and then start the basketweave pattern; repeat blanket pattern till its almost the desired length, work 10 rows knit, cast off.
rows 1,3,5,7,9: knit 5 purl 10, knit 10 repeat from * 2 times, knit 5;
rows 2,4,6,8,10: knit 5 knit 10, purl 10 repeat from *2 times, knit 5
rows 11,13,15,17,19: knit 5, knit 10, purl 10 repeat from *2 times, knit 5
rows 12, 14,16,18,20: knit 5 knit 10, purl 10 repeat from *2 times, knit 5
Here is my problem … since I am making it for a large dog I wanted to make it larger and I am working with Bernat Softee Chunky which calls for 6mm needles so I decided to cast on 200 stitches … I’m not paying any attention to gauge, whatever it is it is …
I wrote it all down k 5 (for the border) p10, k10 and when I did that 9 times it would give me 180 st then the border at each end is k5 giving me 10 for 190 st. Yet, when I have it all written out in longhand and add it all up k5, p10, k10, p10, k10, p10, k10, p10, k10, p10, k10, p10, k10, p10, k10, p10, k10, p10, k10, k5 it adds up to 190 st.
How can it work with 200 st cast on? I took off 10 and am doing it with 190 …
Am I missing something? :??
