How, using 2 needles (K,P,K) ALL in next st,??
Sorry, didn’t see other answers when I first searched.
You work the st just like you do a m1 increase. After you knit don’t pull the st of the left needle insted leave it on and pull your yarn to the front and purl in the same st as you knit. But, don’t pull it off again insted take your working yarn to the back and knit in the st that is still on your left needle. When you knit this st pull it off your left needle like you would normally. You should have 3 sts! Then, the next direction should say p3tog. That should take care of the extra 3 sts you just made.
Good luck!

What you describe after this statement is a kfb - a M1 inc is where you lift the yarn between sts and knit into it. Many people confuse the issue by calling all increases ‘make 1’ but there are differences in that kfb is done using a stitch while the others add on between sts. They’re used in different circumstances too.
You are right! Sorry about the mix up. I guess it was too late for me to be typing!
