I’ll search past postings for help with this, but in the meantime, I’m (arghhhhh!?@#!!) stuck right now!! If there is anyone immediately available to help me, I’d be forever grateful! I’m getting ready to start the “top down raglan shrug” (see Elann.com, Free Patterns). Reference is made to the trefoil and quatrefoil eyelet, but without instructions. Can anyone help me?? Big thanks, in advance.
I think trefoil and quadrafoil refer to lace patterns with three or four holes. the pattern says you can add them if you want. Silly that they don’t give you directions if you want to, though.
If you have a stitch dictionary, you might be able to find patterns for either, or you can try to do a search for lace patterns.
Hi Ingrid, Thanks for getting back to me so quick! I’ve surfed (all last night!) for lace, eyelet, etc., etc., etc. After all that, I have established that Barbara Walker’s book " A Treasury of Knitted patterns" (Pg. 171) has the trefoil and quatrefoil pattern I need. Unfortunately, I don’t own this book. I’m thinking that ultimately, it is just a k2tog YO to create holes! The tre(quatre)-foil may be referring to the layout of the holes?? Do ya think??
That’s exactly what I think. My guess would be that the pattern on the elann site is a quadrefoil since it has four holes, and that a trefoil would be more like two eyelets on the bottom and one above. I’d think you could use any eyelet pattern that looked good to you.
